مَسَار مقترح لنقل الماء إنسيابياً من نهر عطبرة إلى ساحل البحر الأحمر
Abstract
This research is concerned with finding proposal for supplying important areas at Eastern Sudan and the coastal plain with water for irrigation and domestic use. Special attention is made such that water is conveyed with minimal running cost and enough quantity. Hence, a route is suggested on which water can be taken by gravity from the reservoir of Khashm Algirba Dam to the coastal plain via open channel and natural valleys; with the possibility of following the same route and using water pipeline to supply the coastal cities with drinking water. Survey data from satellite images and aerial photography maps scale 1:100,000 are used for preparing this proposal. Preliminary quantity of water needed for irrigation and domestic use is estimated for suggested areas expected to be served by the proposed route. Also water losses are estimated and hence size of the open channels is estimated for the case of conveying water for irrigation. The major problems which are expected to face the proposal are outlined, hence, an action plan is suggested considering the proposed route will reveal projects for comprehensive development in many areas at east of Sudan.
