Abstract
This study explores the concept of the "anomalous" in prosodic studies, focusing on the inductive approach of Al-Khalil ibn Ahmad, which enabled him to describe the method by which Arabs constructed their poetry. As a result, he established the rules and terminology of Arabic prosody. The researcher examines scholars' perspectives on this inductive approach and the identification of prosodic structures that deviate from it, which were considered anomalous in relation to traditional Arabic poetry
